Question: What is the penalty for buying alcohol for minors in California?

There could be great consequences, including fines between $250-$1,000 + Penalty assessments (which would increase the fines by about 4.5 times), community service, and possible jail time (up to a year)…particularly if the underage person receives what the court considers “great bodily injury.” I understand that you think it may be more safe for your brother to drink at your house, but bad things can happen, and not only could your brother and his friends get in trouble, but you could as well. If one of your friends were to get sick or injured as a result of the alcohol, even if the kid did not want to press charges, his parents might, or the City itself may even if the kid wanted to dismiss the charges.
