Question: If I received a DUI 6 years ago, will that effect a DUI I received last week? It is in San Fernando Court.

Answer: Yes. Since your first DUI was within 10 years of your most recent DUI, it will likely be charged as a second offense DUI enhancement which carries more severe penalties than a first offense DUI.  For example, if convicted of a 2nd DUI you will be required to complete an 18 month alcohol program, the mandatory jail time doubles from 96 hours up to 364 days in jail, fines and fees can increase, driver license suspension and Interlock Requirements increase significantly as compared to a 1st offense DUI, etc.
