Police report for DUI

Police report for DUI

Question: I was arrested for DUI by LAPD last week.  I am curious to see what the officer put in my police report.  He asked me to do balance tests which I did and think I did good, but I was arrested for DUI still.  I blew into the machine as well but not sure what the results came back at.  I asked the officer but he did not answer me.  Just arrested me.
How can I get a copy of my police report for my DUI in Van Nuys, CA?
Answer:  There are a few ways to get your Police report for DUI.  You can contact the LAPD to find out how to get a copy of your police report from them, but in my experience this process takes 4-6 weeks at best.  Also, the DMV can provide you with a copy of the police report if you or your DUI attorney requested a DMV hearing coinciding your DUI arrest.  If retained within 10 days of the arrest, I can request the hearing if hired to defend your case and at that time I put in the request for a copy of the police report amongst other things.  The police report can also be picked up from the court at your court arraignment date, but I highly recommend that you have a DUI attorney represent you in Court.  Representing yourself on a DUI case is rarely a good idea, even if you are an Attorney yourself.
Call me to discuss your case in more detail and I can work on ordering your police report, etc once retained to represent and defend  you in Court and at the DMV if retained soon enough from the arrest date.
