Question: After a Van Nuys DUI conviction and DMV drivers license suspension, I found out my license is suspended for a year because I am 21. Is there any way around this?

Answer: A 1 year drivers license suspension is mandated after an under 21 DUI conviction, as well as the APS hearing loss for under 21 years old. It is possible to get a “critical needs” license after you have served 30 days of your suspension. This would allow you to drive for limited purposes. This is a common question, and I will add more detailed info about critical needs licenses to my website under the DUI Info tab.
