Question: I blew on the IID Interlock device prior to starting my car and it failed. I then went back in my house for an hour, came out and tried it again and it worked. Will San Fernando Court penalize me for this? My DUI was in San Fernando.
Answer: The IID is generally used to stop your car from starting if you fail the “test” prior to starting your engine, or reacting accordingly if you fail to successfully blow into the IID when requested while driving. I am not aware of anyone having legal issues in a situation where they failed the IID blow one time prior to starting their car. That being said, to be safe, I would make sure there is no alcohol in your breath as best as you can before blowing into it in the future.
