Question: I have a DUI Court date coming up in San Fernando Court, and just received a DUI for Van Nuys Court 3 nights ago. I am thinking of leaving the country…. what should I do.

Answer: I would strongly advise about ignoring the court dates and leaving the country. That could create more problems down the road, and the courts would likely issue bench warrants for your arrest, that will haunt you if you ever decide to come back to the U.S. The good news is, assuming you weren’t already on probation for something else, you will not have a probation violation based on the 2nd DUI in Van Nuys. Call me to discuss both cases in more detail. There may be a possiblity of getting one or both of the charges dismissed or reduced, or work out other creative deals. You will get through this.
