Answer: A battery can be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony, and there are many variations or different charges related to Battery.  If there is serious injury involved, it is likely they will charge your it as a felony. If the injuries are considered minor, then it may be charged as a misdemeanor.  There are also some other variables such as who the alleged victim is.  ie.  A spouse, a stranger, a police officer, a child, an elder, etc.
