Question: Is there a statute of limitations for a DUI? Arrested for 1st DUI in Encino with DUI hearing in Van Nuys, CA. I moved to Germany shortly after the DUI arrest. .

Answer: There is a statute of limitations for filing the DUI charges. For misdemeanors, the general time frame is 1 year from the time of arrest. There may be grounds to get the DUI charges dismissed even if they were filed in a timely fashion, but If charges were filed timely, and you relocated to Germany shortly after the incident that can complicate things. Feel free to contact me to discuss your case. Regardless, I would recommend consulting with a DUI attorney in to discuss your Van Nuys DUI in more detail.
