Is there a statute of limitations on a speeding warrant in California?

Question:  Is there a statute of limitations on a speeding warrant in California?

Answer: There is not necessarily a statute of limitations on a warrant itself.  That being said, in Southern California, it is unusual to have a warrant issued on an infraction speeding ticket.  Normally if you miss a court date the Court will issue a “Failure to Appear” which can include additional penalty and a hold on that person’s driver license (making it illegal to drive until the hold is cleared).  Is there is a hold on your license, it will likely remain until you clear your warrant.

Not withstanding the above, it is possible to have a warrant based on an infraction.  Also, if you were stopped for a misdemeanor exhibition of speed and failed to show to court, then there would most likely be a warrant issued.
