Warrant for arrest 2 years after DUI in Los Angeles, CA

Question: I was stopped for a DUI in Woodland Hills in early 2010. In April 2012 I was pulled over for speeding and the Officer informed me there is a warrant out for my arrest since May, 2010 for the DUI.  He ended up giving me a new court date for the DUI ticket.  Can I still get charged with DUI 2 years later?

Answer:  To answer your question, technically you were charged with the DUI at some point prior to the warrant getting issued based on the information you provided.   If so, the DUI case was filed within the misdemeanor statute of limitations and for whatever reason you were unaware of it. For example, the officer who performed the DUI investigation may have issued you a citation, but never brought you to the police station. Or, it is possible that a notification of DUI charges filed was mailed to you (or whatever address the officer or DMV had for you). Or, what happens more often, the Officer gave you a DUI citation once you were released from jail the date of your arrest, and you missed the court date listed on the citation.  Whatever the case is, I am an experienced DUI defense attorney and I can assist you in getting the warrant recalled and defend you in this DUI case.  Call me at 818-336-1384 to discuss.
